Up for sale is my real deal 1968 black line drip edge Fender Bassman, AB165 circuit, with the matching 2x12 cab.
Transition year, 100% Blackface AB165 circuit dressed up with the black line Silverface appointments.
They only made them this way for the '67-'68 production run.
After that the faceplates were different (no black line).
The short story is I'm not playing much anymore, so I'd like to unload some vintage gear and replace it with homebrew stuff.
(Though this is my favorite amp of all time, so I may change my mind and pull this ad.
.
.
) I bought this from a guy who used it for years as a low-volume keyboard amp, so it has been well cared for and not abused.
Original transformers, and one original Oxford speaker still in the cab.
The other speaker has a tear in the cone so I replaced with an Eminence Legend.
The torn Oxford speaker is saved in a box and it could easily be reconed if you want.
Period-correct preamp tubes (not sure if original, but they sure look like it) and modern JJ 6L6 power tubes.
I have a matched pair of period-correct RCA blackplate 6L6s around here, but we moved recently and all my parts are boxed up.
If I can find them I will toss them in for $100 if you want, otherwise I will save them for my next build.
Couple dings in the cab grille cloth and tolex, as pictured.
Not bad for its age
I performed the standard old amp maintenance: replaced the filter caps and bias cap with F&Ts, deleted the ground switch (switch is still in place, just bypassed), and added a 3-prong power cord.
The original parts will be included in a box.
NOTE: the chassis pic is from before I re-capped it.
If you're looking, you know what it is.
No need for me to gush about how great it sounds--this is holy grail Fender tone, complete with the blue molded Mallory caps.
Non-smoking home and all that.
I am happy to take additional pictures or answer any questions you may have.
I may have forgotten to add something up there.
(No, I will not sell the head separately, thanks for asking though!)
Call, text, or email.
Text or email is probably best, but if you call and I don't answer, please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
$1,400 OBO.
Not really interested in any trades thanks, I am pretty much set on gear.
Thanks for looking and stay well!
