Performs basic patient care activities as delegated including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
Reports abnormal assessment findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
Assists with keeping patient rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
Performs clerical duties, aligned with nursing station activities.
Follow established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.
Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.
Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant other rights identified within the hospital.
Functions with an awareness and application of safety and infection control issues as identified within the hospital.
Performs appropriately in emergency situations following established protocols and informing appropriate persons.
Maintains current completion of Basic Life Support.
Demonstrates applied knowledge base in providing patient care.
Remains proficient in patient care in ACU, Pediatrics or Critical Care areas (ER/CCU) Evidence understanding of body structure and function.
Exhibits knowledge and ability to assist with assessment of the patient, to assist with wound care, elimination, oxygen needs and collection of specimens.
Transport of patients.
Demonstrates competency in taking vital signs, I&O, treatments as assigned by the nurse, i.
e.
, applying condom catheter, performing catheter care, collection of specimens, use of special equipment.
Assists with physical therapy, ileostomy care, colostomy care, drainage tubes and dressing changes.
Demonstrates self responsibility and accountability.
Participates in staff development activities for unit or department of nursing personnel as appropriate.
Demonstrates an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care.
Demonstrates effective communication skills using appropriate lines of authority.
Demonstrates effective organizational/priority setting skills.
Formulates effective working relationship with all health care team members, patients and families.
Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts.
Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
Communicates all pertinent data/information regarding assigned patients to RN responsible for patient care.
Abide by Nursing Service Behavior Standards.
Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.
Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Completes annual educational requirements.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Minimum Work Experience Preferred: Previous experience in an Acute Care setting.
