Under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse or the Licensed Practical Nurse the Certified Nurse Aide assists with nursing care for patients of all ages, participates in-patient and family teaching and works as a member of the nursing team.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the assigned unit, performs multiple clerical duties related to maintenance of records, processing physician orders, supply utilization and maintaining stock for the unit.
Is available at the nursing station to answer the phone, take messages and visually overseeing the telemetry and monitored patients= waveforms (when in ICU) and alerting the Registered Nurse of any abnormality.
Works as a member of the nursing team to perform duties according to the hospital standards, philosophy, mission, and policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
CPR required.
Accucheck proficiency preferred.
Crisis management/restraint training required within forty-five (45) days from date of hire.
Must keep patients safe.
Two years previous Nurse Aide, LPN, EMT experience or previous Unit Clerk experience within the last two years required.
Telemetry Technician experience with the last two years required.
Must complete Lippincott Professional, 12 lead ECG interpretation, lessons 1-7 within 4 weeks of hire.
Passing with 80% or higher.
Complete and pass a written telemetry test within 4 weeks of hire.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate and interact with the general public, as well as with emotionally distraught patients, family members and visitors.
Must be able to assess gross patient needs and set priorities on work, functioning within orientation and training parameters.
Must have the ability to work independently and organize several projects.
