*Position Summary: *The Specialist will perform clerical functions for patient ordering of Durable Medical Supplies (DMS) as well as billing, including verification of insurance information and resolution of problems to ensure a clean billing process.
Follow up on accounts that require further evaluation.
Working with others in a team environment.
*Principal Duties and Responsibilities:*
Provide first-line communication with a variety of customers, referral sources, and clinicians to facilitate ordering and delivery of durable medical equipment (DME) products, supplies, and services.
Educate customers on a broad portfolio of DME products, supplies, and services
Be responsible for recommending medically appropriate, cost-effective DME to meet the needs of customers
Ensure DME is successfully supplied and reimbursed through accurate patient data collection and entry, evaluation of the medical necessity, obtaining insurance authorization and delivery coordination of product.
Communicate by phone, mail, and email as needed with patients regarding the use, benefits of and coverage for the DME item(s) provided.
Be responsible for maintaining accurate records and providing detailed, professional notes in patient’s files.
Possess the ability to perform with a high degree of independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality; and make complex decisions within a short amount of time.
Meet daily goals as outlined by Billing Department Manager/Supervisor
Dress and interact professionally in an office environment
Follow all company policies and address issues following appropriate chain of command
Be reliable regarding attendance and arriving to work on time.
Complete other duties, as assigned by Management.
*Qualifications & Skills:*
-Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Must have the ability to work well with the team members, supervisors, clinicians, referral sources, customers, and the public.
-Ability to follow directions given by your supervisor/manager
-Ability to build effective relationships with internal team members and external customers to achieve goals set by the company, your supervisor/manager.
-Strong ability to multi-task.
-Strong Knowledge of clinical procedures
-Proficient in computers and relevant software applications
-Strong knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
-Possession of strong organizational skills
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and good judgment
