Potatoes, grown in 2023.
Kennebec, Red Pontiac, Irish Cobbler, or German Butterball!
$5 per pound
All four varieties yield on average 8 pounds for every 1 pound of seed potatoes.
Store seed potatoes in a cardboard box in your basement - cover the boxes to keep potatoes in the dark.
They will have shoots on them when planting time comes around.
Cut back the shoots to about an inch, and plant them in the spring when the dandelions bloom (mid to late May).
Green shoots will emerge in about 2 weeks.
Hill them up when planting, and again once or twice during their growth.
Fertilize with bone meal when the green shoots first emerge, and again a month later.
Harvest when all foilage has died off (late-August through late-September).
