POSITION FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE
The Geographical Information System (GIS) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Systems Specialist at Cloverland Electric Cooperative serves a crucial role in supporting the development, orientation, and maintenance of the Cooperative's GIS mapping and UAV programs.
This position involves managing the Cooperative UAV systems program while providing essential data, maps, and assistance for planning, design, analysis, and maintenance of the electrical distribution and transmission systems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource and safety files, records, and documentation.
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.
; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
Performs periodic audits of HR and Safety files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Reviews employee time sheets on a weekly basis to ensure that applicable policy and contractual obligations are applied to the total hours worked for each employee classification.
Generates and distributes biweekly overtime reports for supervisors.
Will assist in processing requests for FMLA, workers compensations claims, and UIA claims, and is responsible for follow-up to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, regulations.
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, and various employee engagement events.
Assists with recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new employees.
May conduct or assist with new hire orientation.
Develops and organizes employee information/engagement activities, including maintenance of employee lists/staff directory and supplying Human Resources and Safety information for the monthly newsletter to the Communications Department.
Will assist the Safety Department in coordination, planning, and communication of annual safety training.
Will be responsible for maintaining, tracking, and documentation of all employee training records electronically and within the online learning platform.
Annually will assist with the assignment and development of the annual training calendar for the Cooperative.
Will assist other department managers and supervisors with coordination and scheduling for all internal and external training as requested.
Will assist in monitoring, tracking, and ordering of all PPE and clothing.
Will be responsible for drafting, developing, and processing all safety-related memos, letters, reports, newsletters, forms, and other documents as well as all communications, scheduling, and documentation for Cooperative safety meetings, including RESAP audits.
Assist with other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Reports to the Director of Human Resources, with a dotted line reporting to the Safety Manager keeping them informed concerning work in progress and consulting concerning efficient completion of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
This position is closely aligned with the Safety Department, and as such, changes and/or questions should be communicated between both Departments.
The Human Resources and Safety Assistant must collaborate and work closely to ensure all matters related are seamless for the employees.
The Human Resources and Safety Assistant is accountable to their supervisor and the management of the Cooperative for the efficient performance of these responsibilities and that, although some of the responsibilities may be delegated or assigned to another person, the accountability cannot be.
Is encouraged to use initiative and judgment in making decisions, remembering that the Cooperative's best interest can be affected by his/her actions.
He/she should feel free to make suggestions for the improvement of operations and efficiency.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS This position is nonexempt under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent required Associates degree or bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
Willing to consider applicants with 5 or more years of relevant work experience in lieu of education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of human resources practices including federal and state labor laws.
Willingness and ability to acquire an understanding of safety programs and practices.
Willingness and ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Instructor certification in order to lead and train employees in a classroom setting.
Must be able to travel and attend training, when requested.
Proficient oral and written communication skills.
Proficient computer skills needed including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Proficient organizational and time management skills.

Face-to-face and on-site visits in the field are required.
Position requires repetitive motions with hands and fingers for keyboarding.
Must be able to work well under deadlines.
Travel is required, mostly within the cooperative's five-county service area.
Occasional travel to training courses, seminars and/or conferences outside the service area required.
Must be willing to work outside of traditional business hours, as needed.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
