*REPORTS TO:* Director of Auxiliary Services and/or Superintendent
*RATIONALE:* To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.

Must possess a valid Michigan Drivers License.
2.
Passing score on the District Maintenance Technician test.
3.
Ability to read and understand basic operating instructions, and blueprints, and write reports as required.

Mechanical/maintenance aptitude and the ability to work independently (alone) to successfully complete tasks.
5.
Experience in plumbing, carpentry, and/or electrical work.
6.
Ability to coordinate and schedule maintenance activities and various required maintenance inspections.
7.
Computer literacy is required.
Experience with, or aptitude to use, computer technology for electronic work order systems, and electronic HVAC controls.
8.
Knowledge and ability to perform basic types of welding preferred.
9.
Ability to supervise and train other custodial personnel, including substitutes, youth program employees, and student workers.
10.
Ability to work cooperatively with and relate positively to staff, faculty, contractors, and students.
11.
Record of integrity and reliability.

*MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:* 1.
Will Perform work in any or all of the following areas.
a) Working knowledge and experience with testing, troubleshooting, and repairing steam heat systems.
b) Heating and cooling systems and other related equipment.
c) Records boiler maintenance/repair & boiler water quality.
d) Fire alarms and extinguishers.
e) Roof inspections and minor repairs.
f) Minor electrical, equipment, and facilities repair and assume responsibility for reporting major repairs, as needed.
g) Door hardware and locks repair/replacement.
h) Troubleshooting and inspection at regular intervals of all mechanical equipment.
i) Monitors and assists all building users including students, staff, renters, and visitors.
j) Supervises and performs maintenance and cleaning of boilers and all major equipment.
k) Supervises and performs general cleaning and maintenance of school buildings and grounds, including general repair, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, general mechanical maintenance, and all major equipment.
l) Maintain, repair, and perform HVAC services to regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems providing temperatures appropriate to the season and ensuring economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.

Responsible for major and minor repairs and troubleshooting.
3.
Exercises concerned and professional management of the school plan, district-wide, including general maintenance, heating, and other duties as assigned.
4.
Regularly maintains all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing.
5.
Respond to boiler alarms and other facility emergencies as required, making emergency repairs as necessary.
6.
Assists in remodeling and renovation work.
7.
Supervises and organizes pool well and deck repair, orders supplies, and gives technical advice and assistance.
8.
Maintains and makes necessary repairs to the pool mechanical equipment as required.
9.
Assumes responsibility for the general security of the building as related to the position.
10.
Report immediately to the Supervisor/Principal any damage to school property.
11.
Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and parts needed district-wide, and requests needed replacements far enough in advance so they are delivered in time.
12.
Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair for District facilities.
13.
Compliance with local laws, code requirements, and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
14.
Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the District to ensure safe conditions.
15.
Attends and participates in various conferences, seminars, and meetings.
16.
If applicable, responsible for quality testing of well water (certified waterworks operator).
17.
Keeps informed of significant developments and changes in State and Federal regulations that affect the operation and maintenance of the physical plant.
18.
Responsible for observing safety, health, and sanitation codes, regulations, and practices required by the school district and/or governmental authorities.
19.
Works safely, aware of personal safety and the safety of others.
20.
Performs the duties of a lower classification when required such as custodial duties, snow removal*, *etc.
Generally, these duties are performed under urgent situations.
21.
Compliance with Federal and State laws and MIOSHA standards.
22.
Assists other maintenance/mechanical personnel in the performance of assigned tasks as necessary.
*GROUNDSKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Supervises and performs snow removal services as needed including shoveling, snow blowing, plowing, salting, sanding, etc.

* Supervises and performs yard-keeping chores, including but not limited to, grass cutting, tree trimming, and garbage pick-up to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
* Maintains athletic facilities at MSHS, including but limited to, main, practice, and band practice fields; tennis courts; irrigation system start-up and winterizing; concessions building; press boxes; and restroom facilities.
* Exercises concerned and professional management of the school plant, district-wide, including general maintenance, heating, and other duties as assigned.
* Completes general lawn maintenance services at all district buildings, including grass-cutting and weed-whipping.
* Performs duties of a lower classification when required.
* Work weekends, holidays, and/or overtime hours as willing/necessary.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
