Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team.
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Duties:
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Assist Controller in the preparation of periodic monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and profit and loss statement
-Maintains the general ledger.
-Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Assist Controller in reconciling bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
-Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Manages accounts receivable collections
-Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform audits.
-Assist Controller to file required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
-Assist Purchasing Manager with processing purchase orders, to include coding and invoicing.
-Periodically assist Customer Service with answering phones and helping with sales through the POS system.
-Maintain the building access control system.
-Order and maintain office supplies.
-Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
-Performs other related duties as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Accounting or related field, required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least three years of related experience required.
- 3-5 years experience with financial accounting preferred.
- Job costing experience preferred.
- QuickBooks Desktop experience preferred
- Understanding of, and ability to adhere to, generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
- Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, as well as accounting software.
- Prior experience in public accounting is a plus
